Jordan’s Work
Experience
I’ve
worked at the New Zealand Couriers during School Holidays, it’s located on 33
Portsmouth Drive, Dunedin. My dad, Peter, is an Independent Contractor on the
Dunedin to Oamaru run.
My
favourite person is Vaughn. He is a good man who can help me load the crates
with the right postcodes.
I
can load the parcels in the crates to sort them out with postcodes.
The
postcodes are Invercargill (IVC), Christchurch (CHC), Queenstown (ZQN), Central
Otago (CNO), South Island Mixed, Wellington (WLG), North Island Mixed, Auckland
(AKL), Hamilton (HLZ), Gore (GOR), New Plymouth (NPL) and Hinuera (HIN).
Safety
list is High-Visibility Vests (I bought it from The Warehouse in South Dunedin),
Work Boots and Work Socks. Our work boots have steel caps to protect my toes in
case they get squished!
Forklifts
are expensive, they lift the crates onto the truck.
The
fuels in forklifts are Diesel and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (L.P.G.). I really
dislike Forklifts because they are too dangerous.
Smoko
Room it has got tables and chairs for take a break for 10 minutes with the
other men.
I
really like loading the parcels, better than the schools, no bells.
When I’m tired, I go home.
It’s
a busy day.
I
might get paid when I can do the job really well.
